Best of the Worst of the Web
As you (hopefully) know by now, we at NetGuide are dedicated to bringing you the best sites on the Internet. Other sites, though, take the opposite tack: they’re devoted to tracking down the worst websites around, the most annoying, the ugliest, the most useless. Here’s the rundown on the anti-NetGuides -- the sites devoted to bringing you the worst of the Web.
No discussion of "Worst of the Web" sites is complete without Mirsky. Although Mirsky's Worst of the Web is no longer around (and we don't know why), read The Mirsky Monthly for a taste of greatness. For more insight into what makes Mirsky tick, read this interview with the man himself.
Probably the, um, best worst-of-the-Web guides still out there are the three young men who make Worst of the Web. Every day they bring you a new worthless site (The Pudding Journal, for example), along with scathing commentary.
And they’ve got competition. The Web’s Most Idiotic Web Pages features such star sites as The Little House on the Prairie Nitpickers’ Guild and Dog Butt Noise.
The Useless Web Pages is set up like the search tool Yahoo!, except it only focuses on worthless sites. Among our favorites here are Save the Vegetables, The Homonym/Homophone Page and Alternative Physics.
