Of course, they tend to get much more elaborate grave sites than we average Joes and Janes do -- and they get a lot more people who want to see them, too. Here’s how to find the final resting places of your favorite celebrities online; so pick up some lilies and follow us.
Find a Grave is an excellent place to start looking: it’s a massive index to the burial sites of famous people around the world. Creator Jim Tipton’s probably not too much fun on dates -- he proudly proclaims "My hobby is collecting dirt from the graves of famous dead people" -- but he’s produced a heck of a site, with thousands of entries and hundreds of photos. For a more in-depth look at celebrity burial sites, check out The Tombstone Tourist; it’s an account of the author’s visit to a variety of different celebrity graves (mostly country and early rock singers), with accounts of their lives and excellent photos of their graves.
Looking for dead politicians? (No "The only good ones ..." jokes, please). Check out The Political Graveyard; it boasts more than 18,000 entries, of little-known politicos and great leaders alike, with detailed descriptions of the cemeteries in which they’re buried. They’re organized in dozens of inventive ways -- you can even search for politicians who were killed by yellow fever, for instance.
