Dig This: Volleyball on the Net

From high school gyms to beaches across the world, volleyball is an extremely popular sport. It can be played by almost anyone, anywhere. All you need are a few players and a net. Likewise, if you're searching for information about the sport, the Net is a necessity. And don't worry about finding all the cool volleyball resources; we've set you up for the kill.

Volleyball Resources

Volleyball Worldwide, a complete resource of volleyball information, bounces online with news on tournaments and pointers to pages for high school, college and professional teams. Mostly text, this site provides results, standings and polls that'll keep you on top of men's and women's action from across the country. Plus, you'll discover game rules, history and pictures of the top volleyball athletes.

Schneid's Volleyball Page, another graphically challenged but informative stop, serves up links on rules, strategy, playing tips and training. Judging by the content, webmaster and volleyball enthusiast Mike Schneider created this virtual volleyball hangout for beginners and those working to polish their game.

The website of Professional Volleyball explains the history and drive behind professional women's volleyball in this country and internationally to date. You can also bone up on stats and personal habits of the Sacramento Stars, San Bernardino Jazz, San Jose Storm, Hawaii Waves and the Utah Predators (our personal favorite).

Hall of Fame

Finally, if your curiosity is sufficiently whetted, why not plan a trip to the Volleyball Hall of Fame in Holyoke, Mass. (birthplace of volleyball in 1895)? Read all about the inductees, archives, photos, history and on-site events at the website so you'll know exactly what to expect when you get there.
